Elizabeth Barcelos – Founder and Lead Tournament Director

Elizabeth Barcelos

Elizabeth Barcelos (she/her) has been a quidditch tournament director since 2014, running tournaments ranging from small local scrimmages to 10 team, multi-tier events. After hanging up her cleats and retiring as an active player in spring 2018, she started Barcelos Knows Quidditch and dedicated herself to what she does best: running high quality quidditch events that cater to specific team needs, and doing it on time.

Before founding BKQ, Liz was a player and captain of SJSU Spartan Quidditch from 2013 to 2016. She later returned to coach them in the 2017-2018 season. After graduation, Liz played for and managed the Silicon Valley Skrewts from 2016 to 2018. Liz also managed Major League Quidditch’s San Francisco Argonauts for their 2017 and 2018 seasons. In addition to running BKQ, Liz is also a podcast host, staff writer, and livestreamer at Face Beat It.

Mattie Forte – Assistant Tournament Director

Maddie Forte

Mattie Forte (they/them) played for Syracuse Snare Quidditch from 2013 to 2016 and Silicon Valley Vipers from 2017 to 2019 (taking a short break for AmeriCorps). They also coached the Silicon Valley Venom, the Vipers’ development team.

In their non-quidditch life, they teach Marine Science with the Marine Science Institute as well as crew a student science research vessel known as the Robert G. Brownlee (it’s a 90 ft long boat, it’s pretty awesome.)
